Really that is just user preference. In essence all the systems work pretty much the same.
However, some GPS devices have more difficult interfaces and the software might be a bit harder to use. I have found that this is the case with most Magellan devices and from experience I have found that their customer support and sales support for their professional line of GPS equipment is absolutely disgusting.
If I’m going handheld I prefer a Garmin or a PDA device. If I’m going for navigational system I like the TomTom or the Garmin, both are excellent names.
