The Garmin 215 model is excellent. Here’s the details on it
Very reasonable price too.

I have a 205W and love it
I’d go with the widescreen version of whatever you decide on, the screen is much better and they look good too

I recomanded this model :
The unit itself is wonderful, the only issue is that my first unit turns itself off unable to be restarted for 30-90 minutes. Not ideal. Garmin Customer service has since sent a replacement unit and so far so good.

They just discounted the 760 and the 650 at amazon. Plus you get FREE SAME DAY SHIPPING
You’ll find the prices have dropped in the last week and your local store probably doesn’t have fresh units (and lowered prices)

Would recommend keeping it simple. Yeah, the 350 plays MP3 but do you really need your GPS to play music? I have a nice car audio system to do that already.
You’ll notice the 350/650 is considered in the “discontinued” section of Garmin’s website. Might not be a big deal - so long as Garmin continues to support it.

I am suggestion a Garmin 360, it popular GPS and best for a budget, have this feature:
* Bluetooth wireless technology, built-in microphone, and speaker for hands-free calls with compatible phones
* MP3 player with pre-loaded sample songs and audio books, JPEG picture viewer, travel alarm, and currency converters
* 2D or 3D views; pre-loaded with most recent Navteq-driven maps for United States, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Canada
* Turn-by-turn directions with actual street names; real-time traffic and weather info
* Super-bright 2.8 x 2.1-inch sunlight-readable color screen
Or a Garmin 760 has a text to speech feature and bluetooth, Garmin 760 is more feature than Garmin 360.

That depends on what features you want. General rule of tumbs the higher the model the more features and also the more it will cost.
The mp3 playback starts at the 300s models, so yeah the 350 plays mp3s so does the 650.
The only difference between the 250 and the 260 is that the 260 has maps of Europe so if you do not plan on going to Europe anytime soon then you can save the money and go with the 250.
Like mentioned before the higher the model the more stuff so if you are willing to pay extra money then the 650 would have the most features which is really on text to speech, a longer battery, and traffic enabled.
If you don’t know:
*Text to speech is it is the ability for the GPS to speak out street names. For example a GPS without txt to speech would say “Turn left in 3.2 miles” but a GPS with txt to speech will say “turn left in 3.3 miles onto Jackson Ave.”
*Traffic enable is the ability for the GPS to find traffic jams and plan a route to avoid them. This is available in particular areas and cost a monthly or yearly fee.
I personally like the Nuvi’s that end in ‘5′ this means that it is the newer model such as the 255, 265 etc… It’s about the same but the maps are usually the most recent so you don’t really have to worry about updating them(though if you buy a Nuvi from a official Garmin retail if your maps are outdated you have up to I believe 90days to update them for free). My favorite thing is that it has your current speed in addition to the speed limit on the road you are driving on which has saved me from a few tickets driving across Texas a few months ago when I wasn’t aware of change in speed limits. Also it has a faster processor, and finds signals faster and a few other benefits.
If you want a basic GPS to get you where you need to go without all the extras I highly recommend the Nuvi 205. I personally have it and love it. You can see the reviews here, also the link has a chart called “Which nüvi is Best for You?” which can help you find a GPS best suited for you with the features you want.
