What is GPS Simulator?

I have bought Garmin nuvi 650 GPS few days before and I was an option to put the Simulator ON or Off. I have no idea about it. Can some tell me about Simulator function in GPS which I use in my car?

   the simulator just shows what it would look like if you were really using the GPS unit. you need to turn the simulator off to use the GPS unit for what you want
