How long does my Garmin 200W take to fully charge for the first time?
GarminGlobal Traveller asked:
I have connected an AC adapter to the nuvi and a wall outlet. How long does it take to fully charge for the first time? How often will I need to recharge and will it tell me? This is all new to me as I do not have a power outlet in my car.

My nuvi 200 took about 2-3 hours to charge the first time. On the menu screen there is a battery meter that shows you how much power remains. When the battery gets low, it will make a noise and put up a warning. What do you mean you don’t have a power outlet in your car? You don’t have a cigarette lighter outlet? I only use that to power my nuvi when I’m on a trip that lasts longer than 5 hours, which is how long the nuvi’s battery lasts.

It depends on the current(A) capacity of adapter. If you use an 1A to recharge the unit, it needs to take 4 hours at least.
If you use an 1.5A to recharge it, it just needs 2-2.5hours.
